About two years ago during a routine medical examination I was

Allow me to thank you for giving me my full range of hearing back. Like
many others, it took me a long time to recognize the fact that it was
gone. Even after I recognized it I was reluctant to wear a hearing aid -
between cost and vanity it just didn't seem worth it. I stand corrected.
As you know, at the behest of another audiologist, I tried a product that
advertised itself as an inexpensive disposable option. The best part of
this effort turned out to be the disposable aspect - once the batteries
died I could throw them away without guilt.
At Pittsburgh Audiology I never got the feeling that I was being directed
to a specific product line but rather was shown a wide range of options
with the pros and cons of each clearly detailed. I never felt pressured to
chose one or the other but the link between my best interests and what was
being offered was made clear every step of the way.
The hearing aids I have are fantastic! They directly address my lack of

It wasn't until I accepted a network analyst position that
I even considered that I may have a hearing loss. You see, I was in
denial about my hearing loss. My coworkers would make fun of me because
I could not always hear them or our customers on the phone. It seemed to
be the consonants that I had the most trouble with. I would confirm the
customer's printed name by saying: "is that a D as in DOG or a V as
in VICTOR?" Finally, after my coworkers made a hearing horn for me
out of paper and called it "Patty's Hearing Horn" I decided to
schedule a hearing test; I did have a moderate high frequency hearing
loss.
So my next step was to investigate hearing aids. My first attempt was
at a department store. I was not impressed. The audiologist was an
elderly man in a small office with a setup that looked like it came out
of a suitcase. And what he showed me I just could not imagine putting in
my ears. After all, I was 43 at the time (now 45) and thought of hearing
aids as something you have when you are OLD. But, I persisted.
Then I heard about Pittsburgh Audiology and made an appointment. I
was very impressed! Anyone I talk to now about a hearing loss, I always
recommend Pittsburgh Audiology to them. They have a very clean and
professional office and are all very friendly. They have several offices
throughout the Pittsburgh region, so that makes them convenient. Dr.

my audiologist, is very knowledgeable about hearing loss and the latest
technology. She explained everything, from the hearing loss itself, my
particular needs, and what she recommended. I choose the behind the ear
(BTE) version and have been very happy with them. You can't even see
them with my hairstyle! I return to the office about every six months
and Dr. Gregory cleans my hearing aids, changes the tubing when necessary, and
provides me with more batteries. The only thing I've ever paid for at
those visits is the tubing!
This is really painless and if you suspect you have a hearing loss

Approximately one year ago I started my quest for hearing aids. I had
visited three audiologists and had received three different opinions as
to what type of device would be best for me.
Based on an internet investigation I made an appointment with Dr.

I am 81 years old and have had difficulty hearing for
approximately two years. In group settings, it was very difficult to
have a conversation with someone. I also noticed when I couldn't see the
person talking and watch their lips, it was impossible to be part of the
conversation. For the longest time, I tried to ignore it. Even when my
family kept telling me I should look into getting hearing aids, it just
wasn't something I was open to.
One day, we received an advertisement from your company. My husband
called to schedule the appointment. I was somewhat skeptical, but my
youngest daughter had twin boys who were beginning to talk and I just
didn't want to miss out on that experience.
My appointment was with Dr. Laura Gregory. She was great. After conducting a
test for hearing on each ear and discussing my concerns, like hearing
aids that would require a great deal of maintenance or a lot of gadgets
that I would have to keep adjusting, she suggested the hearing aids that
she felt would best suit my needs.
It's been 9 months since I've been using the hearing aids. Dr.
Gregory was right. These hearing aids are perfect for me. Clear in color and not
noticeable at all. I've had friends ask me when I was going to get my
hearing aids. I told them "I have them in!" They couldn't even
tell!
Now I hear everything. In group settings I push a button and it
drowns out all the background noise. My husband and I enjoy ballroom
dancing. When we're not dancing, I can join in the conversation with the
other couples in our group. It made such a difference in my life.
My grandsons are almost two. I enjoy reading to them and listening to
them trying to repeat words I say. I can't explain to you what a
wonderful feeling that is.
I would highly recommend you. This has highly changed my life!

I have worn my hearing aids
for three years and I am still amazed at how quiet my world becomes when
I take them out. I can remember my first days with aids: I was reminded
that birds sound beautiful, bugs can be loud on a summer evening,
children's giggles from another room can make you smile, and connecting
to the internet is awful noisy. Hearing aids are an expensive
investment, but the benefits are priceless. I never really realized how
much I was missing!
My Audiologist, Dr. Stelios Dokianakis, is professional,
knowledgeable, understanding, and patient. He is very thorough and
meticulous. One thing I appreciated about Pittsburgh Audiology is that
(unlike many places) they do not represent one certain brand, do not
work on commission, and there was no pressure.
Every time I see ads for hearing aids, the people in the pictures are
grandparents. Hearing loss does not only happen to older people. I was
in my late 30s early 40s. My only regret is that I waited so long.
